Press Release March 17, 2010

SCORPIONS!

It’s 2010, and I say “Long Live Rock!”  One of the biggest bands from the 70’s and 80’s era is set to tour the World for the last time- so they say…

It was always our pleasure, our purpose in life, our passion and we were fortunate enough to make music for you – whether it was live on stage or in the studio, creating new songs.
While we were working on our album these past few months, we could literally feel how powerful and creative our work was – and how much fun we were still having, in the process. But there was also something else: We want to end the Scorpion’s extraordinary career on a high note. We are extremely grateful for the fact that we still have the same passion for music we’ve always had since the beginning. This is why, especially now, we agree we have reached the end of the road. We finish our career with an album we consider to be one of the best we have ever recorded and with a tour that will start in our home country Germany and take us to five different continents over the next few years.
We want you, our fans, to be the first to know about this. Thank you for your never-ending support throughout the years!
And now… let’s get the party started and get ready for a “Sting in the Tail”!

See you on the world tour,
Yours
Scorpions

(from the official Scorpions website)

38 years ago the band debuted with their album, Lonesome Crow, which instantly put the band on their path to success as the opening act to some other notable groups like Uriah Heap, and UFO.

I was introduced to the SCORPIONS in 1974 when their album Fly To The Rainbow was released, which was about the same time that I became familiar with another band from across the Atlantic, Foghat.

The new album is unmistakably SCORPIONS all the way; filled with guitar sounds and perhaps one of the most recognizable voices in music, Klaus Meine.  His voice over the four decades has kept its tune and pitch, and he sounds like he did on their first album which is a plus to so many of SCORPIONS fans.

This new record reminds me of what made the SCORPIONS such a favorite for the masses.  Think of  Love Drive, Animal Magnetism, Blackout, Love At First Sting, or Crazy World, you have the new record, with familiar sounds and guaranteed hits made for the airwaves.

Thus far the 2010 – 2012 World Tour has only 2 dates scheduled for the USA this summer, but I for one can’t wait for for them to release their full tour date and plan my SCORPIONS day!
