A nightmare gone bad

For those of us who remember having the pants scared right off of us with the original “A Nightmare On Elm Street ” from 26 years ago may be a little disappointed in the new remake of the old horror (now classic) movie.

The characters were all familiar, and in some ways just like the originals.  However, somewhere along the way the shrills and screams were left behind in 1984 with Robert Englund who played Freddy Krueger, the villain of the film; which by the way also co-stared an  up and coming actor named Johnny Depp.

In this version nothing was really changed from the original from what I could tell, but I didn’t find myself cowering behind my hands nor did I even jump from any surprises.  A few moments of anticipation was certain, but the timing was off and it was too obvious as to what was going to happen.  Even with things being so obvious, I think I would have jumped a little if I was to watch the original film.

Although I didn’t care much for Jackie Earle Haley playing Freddy, (he just wasn’t creepy enough) I have a heart for this guy, and it’s good to see him back on tv and in the movies.  If you don’t remember him, he’s the misunderstoon neighborhood trouble maker (Kelly) from the original “Bad News Bears,”  and he’s become quiet the good actor!

Take my advise on this one, stay at home and watch TV; unless of course you have a squeamish date that would even jump at seeing a worm, then it might be worth the fun.
