NBC ENTERTAINMENT NAMES STUART LEVINE TO NEWLY CREATED ROLE OF VICE PRESIDENT, EDITORIAL & MEDIA RELATIONS, NBC ENTERTAINMENT

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – February 13, 2013 — Stuart Levine, has been named to the newly created position of Vice President, Editorial and Media Relations, NBC Entertainment, it was announced today by Richard Licata, Executive Vice President, Communications, NBC Entertainment. In this role, Levine will head up editorial for the network, developing, writing and editing all press materials, spearheading media relations initiatives, and working closely on ratings publicity. Levine will report to both Rebecca Marks, Executive Vice President, Publicity and Nate Kirtman, Senior Vice President, Corporate Public Relations, NBC Entertainment and begin in March.

Levine comes to NBC Entertainment from Variety where he was most recently Managing Editor of Television and Features.

“As a respected television journalist who has reported on every aspect of our business, Stu brings the perfect combination of writing/editorial expertise and a strategic understanding of the entertainment business that will elevate our communications/publicity efforts as NBC continues to build the Peacock brand in an increasingly competitive media landscape,” said Licata in making the appointment.

Levine, who leaves Variety after 15 years, has covered the television broadcast and cable landscape extensively, writing breaking news, analysis and feature stories. He has also been an instrumental part in d

eveloping the paper’s Emmy coverage as well as several Oscar-related issues.

Other special issues that have come under Levine’s editorial purview include Variety’s annual 10 Actors to Watch Report, 10 Scribes to Watch, Reality Impact Report and Showrunners Impact Report.

Levine arrived at Variety in 1998 after 14 years at the Los Angeles Daily News, where he was an editor for the paper’s entertainment section. Previously, he was a sportswriter, covering local, collegiate and professional events.
